Apple is set to take the stage on September 9, 2026, for an event titled “Surprise and Shine.” And if the rumours are anything to go by, this could be one of Apple’s more exciting launches in years.
The spotlight is expected to fall on the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, with upgrades to performance, cameras and battery life. But the biggest reveal could be Apple’s first foldable iPhone, the company’s first completely new iPhone form factor since the iPhone X launched in 2017.
The foldable iPhone is expected to feature a book-style design, measuring around 5.5 inches when folded and 7.6 inches when unfolded. Open it up, and its wider display could offer a tablet-like experience, making it feel closer to using an iPad. Its ultra-thin design may come with a few compromises, however, with reports suggesting Touch ID instead of Face ID and no dedicated telephoto camera.
The Apple Watch is expected to get its moment too, with the Apple Watch Series 12 and Apple Watch Ultra 4 rumoured to make their debut. While the updates may be more refined than revolutionary, a new Apple Watch always brings a fresh opportunity to rethink how you wear it.
Apple could also expand its smart home lineup, with a long-awaited home hub potentially making an appearance alongside a new Apple TV 4K and an updated HomePod mini. While these products are less certain, they could give the event a little more to look forward to beyond the iPhone and Apple Watch.
And it’s not all about hardware. Apple is also expected to reveal the release dates for its upcoming software updates, including iOS 27, iPadOS 27 and macOS Golden Gate, along with updates for other Apple devices. So even if you’re not planning to upgrade your hardware, there could still be something new coming your way.
At Apex Loops, we’re looking forward to seeing what Apple brings to the wrist next. New hardware means new possibilities, new adventures and, naturally, new straps to go with them.
Apple’s September event begins at 10AM Pacific Time on September 9. Set the alarm, something new is coming to your wrist.
